EYE EXAMS
EYE EXAM IN
MONTREAL OR SAINT-LAMBERT
An eye exam plays a vital role in your eye health. In fact, it is used to detect and prevent all kinds of oculo-visual conditions that can disrupt your daily life. Depending on your age and situation, it will be recommended on an annual or bi-annual basis. At Bui Optometrist, we offer you an eye exam in Montreal or Saint-Lambert performed by qualified professionals.
ON THE DATE OF YOUR APPOINTMENT...
The optometrist will submit you to a variety of tests to evaluate not only your visual acuity, but also the state of your eye health. These tests are performed using various technological tools and sometimes require the administration of diagnostic drops.
THE STEPS
History: you will be asked general questions about your health, lifestyle, etc.
Visual acuity test: refraction, also known as the "strength" of the eye, is measured to detect visual problems (this is referred to as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia).
Eye movement: we examine the alignment and coordination of your eyes. This test can detect strabismus, among other things.
Examination of the external eye
Examination of the internal eye
Dry eye assessment if necessary
Peripheral vision: we check its delimitation, both vertically and horizontally.
Tonometry: we measure the pressure in the eye. This is mainly used to detect glaucoma
Retinoscopy: the retina (the sensory membrane at the back of the eye) is examined.
EYE EMERGENCIES
Your eyesight is an extremely important sense and you should not hesitate to consult our optometrists or ophthalmologists when problems suddenly arise: sudden double vision, sudden blurred vision, eye pain, scratches, lacerations, burns, contact with foreign bodies (dust, wood splinters, chemicals, etc.), infections and other suspicious abnormalities.
Our optometrists will be able to prescribe eye drops or tablets that will restore these abnormalities.
